MIAMI LAKES, Fla. ( —Now in its 15th season, the Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance (Orange Bowl YFA) presented by Sports Authority kicked off its annual Park of the Week program by visiting five sites this past Saturday, August 17. The highlight of the day was a visit with City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado and Police Chief Manuel Orosa at Curtis Park. The Orange Bowl YFA Park of the Week program presented by Sports Authority recognizes select youth football parks across South Florida each Saturday during the fall to show its continued support to the community.

This past Park of the Week schedule included visits to five Miami Xtreme Youth Football members – the Hialeah Cougars, Miami Police Athletic League, North Miami Beach Sun Devils, Ives Estates Miami Thunder and Dania Beach Bears. At each stop during its Park of the Week program, Orange Bowl members, ambassadors and staff distribute promotional items and discounts from official Orange Bowl YFA sponsors and present each park with a commemorative plaque and a financial contribution towards park improvements.

More than 16,000 young football players and cheerleaders in 10 football leagues across eight South Florida counties directly benefit from the Orange Bowl YFA. More than $5 million has been invested by the Orange Bowl Committee in youth sports in South Florida since 1999. In addition to its continued support of the Orange Bowl YFA, the Orange Bowl directly supports locally-based festivals and events, including those that provide participatory opportunities to youth from all over the world. These events include the Junior Orange Bowl, Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta, Orange Bowl Lacrosse Classic, Orange Bowl International Tennis Championships, Orange Bowl Swim Classic and Orange Bowl Paddle Championships, among many others.

Celebrating its 80th anniversary, the Orange Bowl has been one of South Florida’s leading civic organizations, driving tourism and economic development, while supporting scholarships and community athletic facilities.
