Orange Bowl Park of the Week Honors Four Parks In Miami-Dade County

Continuing its trek around South Florida, the Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance (YFA) presented by Sports Authority visited four sites across Miami-Dade County on Saturday, October 10. Park of the Week, now in its 17th year, recognizes select youth football parks throughout South Florida each Saturday during the fall to show its continued support of the community.

The team’s first stop was Cagni Park, home of the North Miami Beach Sun Devils of the Miami Xtreme YFL. The remaining three parks featured members of the Florida Youth Football League, beginning with a visit to the Northside Panthers at West Little River Park. Obie and crew then traveled to Bunche Park to watch the Miami Gardens Cowboys. Park of the Week concluded the day with a trip down to North Dade Park saw the team spend time with the Miami Gardens Bulldogs.

At each stop during the program, OBIE, the Orange Bowl mascot, was joined by Orange Bowl members, ambassadors and staff in distributing promotional items and discounts from Orange Bowl YFA sponsors and presenting each park with a commemorative plaque.

The Orange Bowl continues to positively impact the community with programs such as the Orange Bowl YFA and the Orange Bowl “Drive for Excellence” Girls’ Golf program, which launched Thursday, September 17, in conjunction with the First Tee of Miami. This is the Orange Bowl’s first girls sports initiative, designed to empower young South Florida women through golf to develop academic, life and athletic skills, resulting in opportunities for collegiate golf scholarships.

The Orange Bowl YFA, which is presented by Sports Authority, is also supported by associate sponsors American Airlines, Clutch Insurance, Comcast, Florida Prepaid College Board, Frito-Lay, Hampton Farms, Marathon Petroleum Company, MetroPCS, Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute, Nike, Panter, Panter & Sampedro, The Miami Herald, Toyota, and Wells Fargo.

For more than 82 years, the Orange Bowl has been one of South Florida’s leading civic organizations, driving tourism and economic development, while supporting scholarships and community athletic facilities. Inspiring thousands of student athletes every year, the Orange Bowl’s activities help foster youth confidence, celebrate student achievement, engage the community and enhance the South Florida economy.

This week, the Orange Bowl YFA presented by Sports Authority will remain in Miami-Dade County and bestow Park of the Week honors on three more parks with all member teams representing the Glades Tri-City Youth Athletic League. As October is designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, players, cheerleaders, coaches and parents are encouraged to sport pink to all Orange Bowl YFA games.
