Miami Lakes, FL (www.orangebowl.org) – Celebrating a new name and evening of outstanding community service and scholastic achievement, the Orange Bowl Committee (OBC) will hold its annual Orange Bowl Impact and Excellence (O.B.I.E.) Awards presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s Florida Blue and supported by Publix Super Markets on May 11, 2012 at the Broward County Convention Center.

The O.B.I.E. Awards presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s Florida Blue and supported by Publix Super Markets was previously known as the Orange Bowl Field of Dreams Scholarship Benefit.  However, the focus of the event will remain: to not only exemplify the mission of the Orange Bowl Committee to positively impact the lives of South Florida’s children, but recognize those individuals who share the Committee’s goals of selflessly giving back and inspiring South Florida’s youth.

Jason Taylor, former All-Pro Miami Dolphins defensive end, will be awarded the Orange Bowl Keith Tribble Impact Award, which honors an individual who has made a significant impact in South Florida. The award is presented annually to a groundbreaker who has helped open doors and made an impact for others to have better lives. Taylor joins a prestigious list of past Keith Tribble Impact Award winners including Bill Fauerbach, Jonathan Vilma, Randy Shannon, Alonzo and Tracy Mourning, and Tribble himself.

The OBC will present the following three O.B.I.E. Awards which celebrate a commitment to the community, amateur sports and displays of courage.

Jason Taylor, Former Defensive End, Miami Dolphins

Orange Bowl Community Service Excellence Award:

In addition six student athletes (one male and one female from Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties) will each receive a $2,500 scholarship, and several local organizations will receive grants from the Orange Bowl for their outstanding community work.

Highlighting the night’s entertainment is Boyz II Men. The GRAMMY awarding winning R&B group has sold over 60 million records worldwide and joins a long list of headlining acts to perform at the Orange Bowl’s annual community benefit presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s Florida Blue and supported by Publix Super Markets.
